Community Workshops
Return to Community Resources
In September 2005, the MTM project partners held Community Workshops
in four different geographic areas across the moraine. The purpose
of these workshops was to:
- Begin building a common community map as the basis for a community-based
strategic monitoring plan; and
- Begin the process of engaging local citizens to record local
knowledge.
The dates and locations of these meetings were:

The meetings were attended by over 70 people in total. Each meeting
was composed of a short open-house, an overview of the MTM project,
a question period, an interactive session to complete a "Community
Mapping Exercise" and a plenary to discuss the mapping exercise
and provide information about next steps.
The Ministry of Natural Resources provided colour ortho maps
which were used by groups of participants to "map" special places,
known stewardship and/or monitoring projects and existing or perceived
environmental issues.
The proceedings from these workshops, along with the proceedings
from the
June 28, 2005 Stakeholders Meeting
will help the MTM project partners to put together community-based
strategic monitoring plans that will outline how we will move
forward with the project in the upcoming years.
